Ever since I can remember I have always played the great game of Hockey. I have been submerged in the game and the culture around it. I have often said everything I know I have learned from the game. From the way I run a work crew to the way I fit into a work crew. The game has taught me so much. I have often related who I am, to the way I behave, to the game. On every team there is a role to be played by one person or another. Every role is respected and valued by Everyone on the team. No matter their skill level every player can find a way to help the common goal of succeeding as a unit and team. In the end, if so lucky to win as a unit, everyone gets to hoist one trophy. While individual accolades can be won along the way. The common goal is a team championship. Team is the biggest concern. and while the health of everyone on the team is important. no individual is greater than the collective. Over the years I have won over 10 divisional titles and 3 facilities championships. I have been lucky enough to lead 4 different teams in scoring. I have even managed to lead a league in scoring. All this was amazing and even unbelievable to me as I say it. Yet the most amazing things to come from it all, is simply the stories. I have already acquired a novel of stories. Some very true some kinda true lol. but every story brings me back to the time I had with the team involved. It reminds me of all the teammates on those particular Franchises. Every story about an individual accolade or team success involves multiple teammates to tell the whole story. I hope to share all these stories with this blog, Taking a shift with Chippy! It is these stories that lead me here to this, being the Vice Prime Minister and Head of Nominations for the BLHHOF ( the beer league hockey hall of fame). And as this journey and celebration of individuals and teams progresses I will share the stories of my former and current team mates and teams. I will always have someone to thank with every story for creating a lasting effect on me. I will thank Greg Stro1 Majster for taking this shift with me. For it was his idea which gave me the drive to push him to start the BLHHOF two years ago. Stro is not a small man lol, and he constantly needs to be pushed hahaha. I am honoured that he took this shift with me. Thanks Stro.
