Blending Days

Ok I am well behind on my daily blog but I’m gonna keep it simple as I just had one game remaining and that was Portugal vs. South Korea . Obviously I wanted to see Ronaldo and Messi play in their last World Cup appearances but getting an Argentina ticket was like getting a golden ticket so I was happy to score tickets to see Ronaldo . Not my favourite player but you gotta respect that the man has skills .

The game was not far from our shipping container which by now we were totally sick of …. Don’t even get me started . It was painful staying there and I don’t suggest anyone ever does this . But the location was good . The stadium was a train stop away at Education City which was an ice box the first two games so this time I wore jeans and brought a jacket to wear … not a winter jacket 😝. Of course we got there and I was sweating buckets and looked and felt the part as you can see in the pic above . Of course for some reason the air conditioning wasn’t as cold as previous days !

Ronaldo got the start and didn’t disappoint but I wish he had scored . He did put his skills on display though but was pulled in the second half . The South Koreans played very good and won the game and the one thing that will always stand out for me were the three horrible women behind me screaming like little girls in my ears in a high pitch tone . Everyone kept looking back at them giving them dirty looks and I even turned and asked them to stop screaming in my ears but they were just awful adults acting like children with their grade 3 mentality . My ears were hurting and are still ringing a few days after :( honestly I hope they lost their voices permanently.

After the game we met Todd and Patrick one last time and they tried to convince us to come out for beers but we really shouldn’t as we are close to our room , we are tired and possibly sick and have to fly in the morning and pack so it was not a tough decision when declining the offer but I do feel bad saying no . They were excellent to hang out with for the trip .

The next morning we got up and couldn’t leave any earlier since we just couldn’t wait to get out of that shitbox container . That bed will always and forever be the worst bed I’ve ever slept on and I can tell you I’ve slept on the floor of a ferry overnight and that was better . We got our Uber and hit the road .

At the airport things were easy but they wanted to put my bags through a police checkout ? No problems with weight as we are allowed two bags equalling 46 kilos and they combine the weights so my gear is under . Why can’t all airlines do this ? Kuwait Air was nice and the airport staff in Qatar were helpful . We boarded with ease and flew to Kuwait first then had to connect to catch our flight to Bahrain . Simple , easy except in Kuwait they wanted me out of all the people to take my shoes off , and they wanted to search my bags inside out …. But why just me ? Is it because of the flags on my bag ? No clue . Whatever …

  • Got to Bahrain . Bags arrived and we got a taxi with ease to our hotel which is the Gulf Hotel . It’s very nice with a pool and a gym and plenty of alcohol around . Before we left the airport I grabbed a 12 pack for the room so I don’t pay extra for beers at bars . Need to pre drink 🍺 At the hotel we decided to go to the Chinese restaurant as there are 16 restaurants here to choose from . We had a fantastic meal but both of us were a bit grumpy and decided to call it a night to get a good nights sleep on a much nicer bed then the one we had tried to sleep on the last 11 days .
