Just when I thought ….

Yesterday was amazing . Woke up at 9:30 am feeling all fuzzy from the drinks the night before and went downstairs to have breakfast which comes with the room here at the IHG Intercontinental . Honestly can’t say enough good things about this place . Totally world class with everything to keep anyone happy . Breakfast is absolutely amazing so we fill up our bellies and save some money for the crazy priced beers hahaha …. I am as ghetto as it gets when travelling :)

After my belly was filled with yummy nom noms we decided to go to the giant pool here and lounge and take a dip . On the way one of the staff gave us a quick tour of the hotel and we found the gym which is massive with every piece of equipment that one would need to work off the beers … or maybe that’s just me ? So after our dip we moseyed on down to the gym with my massive water bottle . Lifted some weights and took the obligatory selfie . You know the one that everyone takes that doesn’t include a bulging belly …. Like this one

Yes that’s the one lmao! Now people think I’m a fitness buff but in reality I’m just like the rest of the beer leaguers reading this … I drink beer get bloated and battle to get it off but the truth is that I’m never gonna be buff or skinny . That’s just extra padding so pucks don’t hurt as much right ? Just laugh with me ok !

After hitting the treadmill and sweating on everything in a 5 metre radius I decided to go hit the showers as it was beer o’clock . See there is always a happy ending ;) it was Friday which is a holy day and it was also Oman Day which commemorates the birth of the country . 52 represents the years that the Sultan here has been leading the country between Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and the recent Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq and the joint project they have shared to keep the Omani people living the great ways they have lived . I had no clue at all that it was a national holiday until I asked for beer which was before I hit the gym …. Yeah I skipped telling you that because I just really wanted to show my selfie in the gym . Now you know that I know that you know that I am not who I made you think I was …. Got it ?

Anyhoo … when I got to my room we had some treats left for us to celebrate Oman Day . Like I said this hotel is so amazing . Oh and my room was cleaned in the morning while I was at breakfast . Fantastic . So because of the holiday and Friday beer sales don’t start until 2 pm so off to the pool once again to lounge and have a couple beers …. 3 beers cost me over $50 cdn . Yup you read that correctly . That’s when I decided that from now on Happy Hour is my go to so I waited until 5 pm for my shot at having a few pints for a discounted rate and of course I took full advantage of that and while I was enjoying my pint on my own in the Irish pub I had the staff talking about someone famous in the bar .

Next thing I know one of the locals sat beside me and we started talking football and not the football that has you throwing an egg shaped ball . The real football ! Anyways this guy was very entertaining and that’s when I realized this is the celebrity that the staff were whispering about . Salman Inglese is his name and he is a super fan of sorts and is always on tv for sporting events like football matches , horse racing and F1 events to name a few . Very nice person and we had a good talk for about an hour . He was supposed to be at an event down the road at another hotel but snuck off for a walk and we happened to meet at the bar , he does not drink and slowed down my progress into drunkenness which is not the purpose but is the purpose at the same time . The bar staff probably didn’t love that I slowed down and even asked if I was ok hahaha .

Kathleen came down and met us and then we went for pizza here at a restaurant inside the hotels grounds called Tomato . My pizza was ok and it was Happy Hour there too so I took a roadie to get back to the room because jet lag started to kick in while I was eating . Oh how I hate you jet lag ! Just when I though I had defeated this beast it reared its ugly head at around 9 pm and that was my day . There’s no fighting it as it’s a losing battle . The 9 hour difference was like my body telling me it’s nap time but really it’s long nap time so I gave in and that was day 2 in Oman .

I really love it here …. Let’s see what tomorrow brings
